Family or private life
A family extension may relate to a partner, parent or child. Private-life permission uses different rules. A dependant on a temporary worker or student route normally needs that route’s dependant process instead of the settled-family route.
Timing and evidence
Check the existing permission, expiry, relationship and residence history, route-specific finances and any English-language requirement. Apply using the correct process and review fee-waiver eligibility where the route permits it.
While an application is considered
Whether existing permission continues depends on validity, timing and the legal framework. Section 3C is not a separate form. A refusal, invalid application, appeal or travel plan needs a case-specific review.
