Support worker recruitment

Individual lives.
Thoughtful support.

Good support starts with listening. We welcome professionals who value dignity, choice and consistency, and services that put those principles into everyday practice.

The conversation starts here

A role is more
than a title.

Support worker recruitment should reflect the people using the service, the environment and the approach to support. CMB welcomes enquiries across supported living, learning disability services, mental health settings and community support.

The same job title can describe very different responsibilities. We ask candidates and providers to be specific about day-to-day tasks, communication needs, lone working, travel and any personal care duties. That detail helps establish whether the proposed role is a suitable fit.

Details that make the difference

Better information.
Better conversations.

For professionals

Bring your experience.

  • Your approach to support

Explain the settings you know and how you adapt your communication. Share professional examples without identifying the people you have supported.

  • Your practical experience

Describe any relevant personal care, community access or specialist support experience. Be clear about tasks for which you need further training or supervision.

  • The working pattern

Discuss day shifts, waking nights or other arrangements where relevant. Confirm expectations around travel and location before agreeing to an assignment.

Introduce yourself

For care providers

Define your requirement.

  • Person-centred expectations

Describe the support approach, essential experience and communication requirements without including personal service-user information.

  • Responsibilities and boundaries

Clarify lone-working arrangements, supervision, personal care duties and any specialist competencies required.

  • Continuity and handover

Explain the induction, documentation and handover arrangements that help a new worker understand the service’s routine.

Start a staffing enquiry

From first conversation to next steps

Clear at every stage.

01

Start with the brief

Share the role, setting, experience and working pattern you want to discuss.

02

Consider the details

Review suitability, relevant checks, training and any local requirements.

03

Agree the assignment

Confirm the location, responsibilities, hours and terms before work starts.

04

Keep the record clear

Use the agreed route for completed hours, approvals and follow-up questions.

Staffing and candidate enquiries are considered individually. A registration or request does not confirm a vacancy, an available worker or a booked shift. Portal workflows require an approved, active account.

Your questions

Good to know.

Can experienced mental health support workers apply?

Yes. Select the relevant role on the application form and describe your experience and preferred settings. Suitability for each assignment is considered separately.

Does every support role involve personal care?

No. Ask for the actual role description. Duties differ between services and should be clear before you agree to a booking.

Are healthcare assistant and support worker roles interchangeable?

They can share some skills, but the setting, responsibilities and required competence may differ. Read our role guide and discuss the individual brief with the team.
